Why wax?

Waxing is not just about hair removal; it also provides effective exfoliation by eliminating lifeless skin cells. By removing hair from the root, waxing ensures longer-lasting results, allowing you to enjoy smoother skin for an extended period. you may even notice a re

One of the fantastic benefits of waxing is that over time, your hair growth becomes thinner and finer. With regular waxing sessions, you may even notice, a reduction in hair growth, and for some fortunate individuals, the growth may eventually stop altogether.

How can I prepare for my appointment to make it less painful?

Enhance your comfort during the treatment by considering taking an ibuprofen beforehand. Avoid caffeine or stimulants leading up to your appointment. Additionally, letting your hair grow slightly longer than the minimum ¼ inch can reduce the number of passes needed. I always say, the longer the better. Once you've started waxing, maintaining a consistent schedule for your appointments is key to minimizing discomfort.

What kind of wax do you use?

I primarily use hard wax but sometimes incorporate soft wax in my service. I encourage you to communicate if you have a preference not to use soft wax. Hard wax Ingredients: Glycerol Ester Rosin, Beeswax, Gum Rosin, EVA copolymer, Lanolin, Silica

What should I expect for my first wax?

Everyone has different sensitivities, so the experience of "pain" can vary from person to person. With consistent waxing, you will gradually see the true benefits over time. Not only will waxing slow down hair growth, but it will also alter the texture, resulting in longer-lasting smoothness when combined with proper home care. Following a waxing session, you may experience post-traumatic reactions, ranging from slight to moderate redness or small red bumps. However, these reactions typically subside within 24 hours.

As an esthetician, my primary concern is protecting the health of your skin. I always prioritize what's best for your skin's well-being. If you're new to waxing and have a special occasion coming up, I recommend scheduling your first wax at least 5 to 6 weeks before the event, followed by a subsequent appointment.

During your initial wax, you may notice that you're not as smooth as you anticipated. This is normal because some hairs may still be beneath the skin's surface or not long enough to be removed. These hairs will come up with your next few waxes as the hair growth cycles align. Consistency is key to achieving the desired results.

Itching after waxing can be tempting to scratch, but I advise against it. Additionally, please refrain from shaving in between waxing sessions, as it interferes with the hair growth cycle and can lead to suboptimal results.

How old do I have to be to get waxed?

Clients between the ages of 15 and 17 are welcome to receive all of our services, provided they have a signed consent form from their parent or guardian. However, for clients under the age of 18, I regretfully cannot offer the Brazilian waxing service. Nonetheless, all other waxing services are available to clients in this age group, as long as they have a signed consent form (which can be obtained at our locations) and are accompanied by a parent or guardian during the service.

How long does my hair have to be?

For optimal waxing results, I recommend that your hair is approximately 1/4 inch in length. To give you a visual reference, think of it as similar to a grain of jasmine rice or even long-grain rice. Generally, I suggest allowing for 4 weeks of hair growth before your waxing appointment, although some individuals may achieve this length in just 2 weeks. The longer your hair is, the greater the likelihood of successful hair removal during the waxing process. It's important to note that if your hair is too short, it cannot be effectively waxed. Therefore, avoid trimming it too short before your appointment as well. Remember, when it comes to waxing, longer is better for optimal results.

I’m on my period, can I get waxed:

Absolutely! You can get waxed during your period. Just make sure you're wearing a tampon or menstrual cup for hygienic purposes. It ultimately depends on your comfort level. Please keep in mind that you might be more sensitive during this time.

Does it hurt?

As previously mentioned, each individual has their unique sensitivities, but rest assured, waxing is generally very tolerable. Similar to the process of hair growth, sensitivities tend to diminish with consistent waxing sessions. It's like trying spicy food for the first time – the initial experience may be the strongest, but as you continue, it becomes easier. My goal is to provide a fast, professional, and pain-free waxing experience as possible. I suggest avoiding caffeine before your waxing appointment to ensure optimal comfort. I take pride in working efficiently while ensuring thoroughness. Once you've completed your first waxing session, you'll walk out feeling empowered and ready to conquer the world.

Can I use numbing cream?

I do not recommend the use of numbing cream before waxing. This is because numbing cream can potentially interfere with the wax's ability to adhere to the hair effectively

I have a sunburn can I get waxed?

No. If you have a rash or your skin is otherwise, irritated, If there is a presence of papules or pustules, I will not wax you. I will ALWAYS do what’s best for you and the health of your skin.

I’m pregnant, can I be waxed?

Certainly! It is generally safe to undergo waxing while pregnant, but I strongly advise double-checking with your doctor for personalized guidance. They will be able to provide specific recommendations based on your circumstances.

 Post-waxing care:

After waxing, it is important to avoid certain activities that can further sensitize your skin. Refrain from taking hot showers, using hot tubs, engaging in exercise, tanning, swimming, or using fragrant soaps or lotions immediately after your waxing session. These activities can add sensitivity to your already sensitized skin. Waiting for 24 hours after waxing will generally help prevent any irritation.

Please keep in mind that waxing exfoliates the skin, which can make it more prone to sun damage. It is recommended to wait 24-48 hours before exposing your skin to the sun or using a tanning bed (although I don't recommend the latter). If you cannot wait, make sure to apply sunscreen diligently to protect your skin.

To maintain a consistent waxing schedule, I suggest booking your next appointment 4-5 weeks after your last one. Remember that everyone's hair regrowth rate varies, and some may need to come back as soon as 3 weeks. We can schedule your follow-up appointment before you leave to ensure availability.

Avoid using razors in between waxing sessions, as this can cause irritation and increase the likelihood of ingrown hairs. Continual shaving can also make your next waxing session feel similar to your initial one.

Exfoliation is essential but wait for at least 72 hours before using any manual exfoliation methods. Remember that waxing itself is an exfoliating process. For the bikini area, I do not recommend using salt scrubs, sugar scrubs, or any products with fragrance. Instead, a simple exfoliating glove will suffice.

Lastly, remember to moisturize your skin daily. Dry and brittle hair is more prone to breakage, so maintaining proper hydration is crucial.
